Blog Catch UP

I have not posted a new blog in a while because I have been involved in a 2 week workshop that ended today! yeah! So before Katie and I head to the pool this afternoon I thought I would catch up on a few things. Katie went to Fairhope last week with her daddy and visited with her cousins and Aunt Ann and Uncle Todd AND Grandmama and Harold. SHe had a GREAT time and also got turned on to peanut butter and banana sandwiches. (thank you Aunt Ann) Now we have one more thing we can add to her eating options!!! yeah! I dont have any pictures to load from that trip yet... but the other pics I am posting is a collection of the things we have done the last 2 weeks.

Myrtle Beach

Katie and I successfully made the 8 hour trip there and back!! It was actually not that bad and Katie is a SUPER travel buddy. Mimi was able to ride back with us to Atlanta on their way to their new home in Columbus Georgia so that helped trememdously!! We had such a nice time with Mimi and Pop... we took full advantage of the water park, pool and beach while we were there. Katie did awesome with her swimming and was very brave in the ocean...even learning to boogie board on her new Hannah Montana boogie board thanks to Pop! We ate at Cheeburger in Paradise and enjoyed the chocolate nachos... yum and then hit Broadway at the Beach and Katie got to ride some kiddie rides. I am exhausted but am so glad that we were able to make the trip and allow Katie to spend some quality time with her Mimi and Pop. Ben has already asked when he gets to spend time with Mimi and Pop... Katie and Craig leave tomorrow to head to Fairhope so she can spend time with her Grandmama and her cousins... she is sooo excited about that too!

I found this sight on another blog and thought I would try it... I have to say that I totally disagree with their findings!! hee hee... I totally think that Katie is a definate Mattox thru and thru except for her sassy personality from whom we ALL know where she got that!!! And Ben... I agree he looks like Craig but I think he has alot of me in him too... so... anyways... it was a hoot to do it... What do ya'll think???
Bottom Line, I do have to say Craig and I are so blessed to have 2 HEALTHY, FUN and BEAUTIFUL children... Although exhausting, frustrating and stressful... Katie and Ben are definately my ultimate pride and joy. They really grow up so fast.
Katie and I just got back from running errands, getting our toes painted and eating lunch.. also getting some things for Father's Day... and what fun is she? She is a great shopping buddy... and I do love having a girl to hang out with... She is my girl..
And of course Ben... he is so darn cute... I know I am his mama... but he is sooo silly and makes me laugh alot...
Yesterday... Craig was tackeling the blinds in our house (putting in new ones) and was having a rough time to say the least (long story will share late) and Ben wanted to help daddy. So I am sitting in the other room and this is what I hear:
Craig: Ben hand me that piece right there
Ben: Dat one?
Craig: no, Ben that one
Ben: Dat one, daddy?
Craig: No, that one... the long one, Ben
Ben: Dat one?
Craig: ( in a slightly louder voice) NO BEN... that one there
Ben: DAT one, daddy?
at this point I went to find the missing piece...
Craig was doing a good job at being patient but it was hilarious!!!

now I am off to the dentist... UGH!!!

Summer is Here!!!

Well, today was the start of our Church's VBS!!! I just love this week at church. Every year I just "help" and I try to help with older kids since I don't work with older kids during the school year. This year I am helping Kate Albright teach 4th grade girls. Today was great and they are a sweet, chatty group of girls... I am loving it. Katie also just loves VBS and she learns so much during this week. This is Ben's first year and I think he gets it. He keeps on saying "VBS- church!". He could not wait to put on his VBS shirt that matched mama and katie!!!

This afternoon after VBS and "Rest time" (in which NO BODY fell asleep!!!) We went to Target and bought a slip n slide. I distinctly remember doing the slip in slide when I was a child in the summer... It was so fun. So, I found one and we set it up in the backyard. Katie LOVEd it and slipped and slid for about 45 minutes. Ben observed for a while and then started doing his own version of the slip and slide. He mostly just walked through the water and got wet. It was fun and past the time until I FINALLY got to the gym..first time in like 6 months!! woohoo!!!

Tomorrow we will try the pool... we will see how that works out...
